Making Paper

Today we made paper!
First, we mixed the ingredients in a blender. Then Mrs. Frith modeled how to hold the paper mold/holder just right, to make it even. Then we got to try!


Mrs. Frith helping Kimberly scoop it up just right.


Now, it is ready to be pressed! Jazmin is pressing the paper!

VOILA! Now it just needs to be pressed one more time and set out to dry!


TA-DA! We have paper!

French Chocolate Fondue

Today we made Chocolate Fondue! Yum Yum!

Making French Soap!

Today, in Art, we made soap!

Here are some of the examples with cinnamon, oatmeal, coffee, or pine as the main ingredients.

This is a picture of us crushing up the oatmeal, into smaller pieces, to better use for our soaps.

To make our soaps...First we got three little cubes of glycerin each, then we put it in the microwave for 27 seconds, then we stirred in spices (oatmeal, rose or jasmine). After we stirred and stirred, we added food coloring to give it a color. Lastly, we put it in the cupcake holder to let it dry and get firm.

Here are our soaps! It has to sit for two hours to be completely dry and hold its form!

We had so much fun making different kinds of soaps!

Voila! Our Soap is finished! 

We wrapped it, and sealed it with a sticker!

Kenya

Before we move onto China, we are taking another stop in Africa...We are headed to Kenya! We will compare the safari and languages of Kenya to what we have learned about Egypt! Let's GO!

Egyptian Pudding

Today in Cooking Class we made Egyptian pudding. It had a particular Middle Eastern taste that many of us were not used to. We were given a recipe for 4 servings, and had to do the math to figure out how to make our recipe have 8 servings!
